Metropollerde artannüfus ve buna baglı olarak olusan trafik yogunlugu sebebiyle hızlıulasım sistemleri düsünülerek en uygun toplu tasım sisteminin yeraltıulasım sistemleri oldugu sonucuna varılmıs, gün ısıgına olan ihtiyacınortadan kalkmasıyla da metro sistemleri ortaya çıkmıstır. Metrodurakları kentteki hareketliligin basladıgı ve bittigi, kenti mekansal,sosyal ve islevsel olarak degistiren, dönüstüren ve biçimlendirendinamik noktalardır. Ankara için Kızılay-Batıkent metro hattı bu dinamikhareketin gözlemlenebildigi en güncel örnektir. Bu çalısmada, Kızılay-Batıkent metro hattı üzerindeki metro duraklarının kentin mekansal,sosyal ve islevsel dönüsümüne etkisi incelenmekte vebelgelenmektedir.

In cities, to cope withtraffic problems, caused by the demographic change in the populationfast and safe public transportation systems were searched. Metro hasarrived as a solution to overcome the traffic problems and it is nowfrequently used for urban-public transportation. Metro has seriousadvantages such as reducing the traffic load and carrying large amountof people at one time. Metro stations affect the development of the city.They are dynamic points where the underground activities start. Theyaffect and change their surroundings spatially, socially, andfunctionally. Kızılay-Batıkent Metro line is a significant current examplefor Ankara where such dynamic spatial and social changes could beobserved. In this study, the effects of Kızılay-Batıkent Metro line and itsstations on the spatial and social transformation of the city and itsurban image are investigated and documented.
