Ders, akademik takvim boyunca o yıl için seçilen şehirle ve mimarisiyle ilgili seminerlerle sürdürülmekte ve akademik yıl sonunda yapılan araştırma ve keşif hedefli gezi ile tamamlanmaktadır. Akademik yıl sonunda yapılan araştırma ve keşif amaçlı geziler VitrA'nın desteğiyle gerçekleşmektedir. Programın eğitim kadrosunu oluşturan akademisyenler ve mimarlar, yüksek-lisans öğrencileriyle birlikte seçilen şehirde VitrA'nın konuğu olarak bulunmakta ve araştırma programlarını gerçekleştirmektedir. Bu kitabın malzemesi, 2012'de Berlin'e, 2013'te Paris'e yapılan keşif gezileri, hazırlık seminerleri ve ilişkili akademik çalışmalar üzerinden derlenmiştir. The course "World Cities" is one of the compulsory courses of the graduate program in Architectural Design at Istanbul Bilgi University; it was included in the program with the aim, on the one hand, of deepening experience and knowledge in modern architectural culture, and, on the other hand, of reinforcing knowledge in the major subjects of study, to wit, history of architecture and the modern city, by focusing on one of the cities that occupies the agenda in the world. The course is conducted throughout the academic year via seminars on a specific city and its architecture selected each year, and is concluded with a research and discovery excur-sion at the end of the academic year. Research and discovery excursions carried out at the end of the academic year are sponsored by VitrA. Academicians and architects who consti-tute the educational staff of the program and our graduate students are present and conduct their programs in the selected city as guests of VitrA. The materials in this book were collected during the academic studies, preparotary seminars and the excursions made to Berlin in 2012 and to Paris in 2013. "--Back cover.
