Wikipedia, March 3, 2015 (The institution was funded 1796 and renamed Anderson's University in 1828. The name was changed in 1887 to the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College, becoming the Royal Technical College in 1912, and the Royal College of Science and Technology in 1956. It became the University of Strathclyde in 1964, merging with the Scottish College of Commerce.)
