Anadolu'da oluşan Türk destanları zincirinin ikinci halkası Danişmend Gazi Destanı'dır. Danişmend Gazi Destanı, Anadolu destan zincirinde Battal Gazi Destanı'yla Saltuk Gazi Destanı arasındadır. Anadolu'da 8. yüzyıldan itibaren Müslümanlaşma ve Türkleşme serüvenini anlatan Battal Gazi Destanı'ndan sonra Danişmend Gazi Destanı'nda da aynı mücadelenin, 11-15. yüzyıllar arasındaki kısmı anlatılır. Bu dönem Anadolusunda yaşanan olaylar Danişmend Gazi'nin efsanevi kişiliğiyle birleştirilir. |
